Dog Pound September 2026 Update: 67 Losers From 69 Bets

September was a horrible month for Dog Pound. There isn't much point dressing it up. We placed 69 bets and 67 of them lost. Just two winners all month produced a loss of 50.14 units, taking the cumulative result from +472.14 units at the end of August to +421.99 units at the end of September.

The sequence tells the story even better. September started with 24 consecutive losers before Deadly Ruben won at odds of 11.0 on 11 September, returning 9.8 units after commission. That little bit of relief didn't last long. The next 34 bets all lost before Aegean Song won at 8.2 on 25 September. We then finished the month with another nine consecutive losers.

So September was essentially 24 losers, one winner, 34 losers, one winner, then nine more losers. It was comfortably one of the toughest months Dog Pound has experienced.

What Do We Do With That?

For now, nothing.

That doesn't mean the results don't matter. They absolutely do. Dog Pound has been much weaker in 2026 than it was previously, and another −50.14 units isn't something I'm going to wave away with the usual line about variance.

But equally, I'm not going to look at one terrible month and immediately start changing the rules. That's something I've done plenty of times in the past: a strategy starts losing, you add a filter; it loses again, you change the odds range; something starts winning, you convince yourself you've fixed it. Eventually you're not researching anything consistently because you're constantly reacting to the latest results.

Dog Pound has now accumulated more than 2,200 actual live bets. We've seen some brutal periods before, including a 79-bet losing run, but the question now is bigger than whether September was simply a bad month. Is this still normal variance around an underlying edge, has that edge weakened, or has something genuinely changed?

I don't know yet. And that's the point.

The Uncomfortable Part of Research

It's very easy to talk about patience and discipline when the graph is moving upwards. A month containing 69 bets, two winners and a loss of 50.14 units makes those principles considerably less comfortable.

But September happened. Those 69 bets belong in the dataset just as much as the profitable ones do. I'm not removing them, explaining them away or changing Dog Pound retrospectively to make the history look prettier.

At the end of September, Dog Pound remains +421.99 units overall. That's a strong historical result, but it doesn't answer the question of what is happening now. The weaker 2026 performance deserves attention, and the longer it continues, the more evidence we'll have to analyse.

For now, Dog Pound keeps running under the same rules.

September was ugly. Let's see what October brings.
